You can do this one of three ways create a visio floor plan insert a cad floor plan or copy and paste an existing visio floor plan drawing into a new drawing.
Create a floor plan in visio 2013.
Add shapes to represent machinery storage and shipping and receiving facilities.
You will notice that the options for floor plans are varied.
In the templates section click map and floor plans.
To create a floor plan go to the file menu and click new.
Select templates maps and floor plans.
Step 1 click on the file tab then select new followed by floor plan from the maps and floor plans section.
Expand foreground pages page 1 shapes select the door shape expand shapes under door select sheets one by one until the dimensions is selected in the drawing page sheet 13 in my example.
You can change these settings at any time.
Select the units of choice and click create to create the floorplan.

Create a space plan open visio.
By default this template opens a scaled drawing page in landscape orientation.

The rulers now measure in feet instead of inches.
On the file menu point to new point to maps and floor plans and then click floor plan.
On the next wizard page select how you want to add rooms spaces to.
Make comments in real time and save multiple versions or layers for easy comparison.
In visio 2013 2016 go to developer tab in the show hide group check drawing explorer to display it.

To work on a drawing at the same time all authors on windows need visio plan 2 and must be using the visio desktop app.
Select the floor plan you want and select create.

Select floor plan from the list of available templates.
On the first page of the space plan startup wizard select the type of image or drawing you want to add as a background.
In the maps and floor plans template category click space plan create.
On the file menu point to new point to maps and floor plans and then click floor plan.
